Alexander becomes third Barton Soccer player to receive conference weekly award

Nicholas Alexander vs PrattBarton Community College men's soccer goalkeeper Nicholas Alexander has been named week eight’s KJCCC Verizon Wireless Goalkeeper of the Week.  Alexander, a freshman from Wilmington, Delaware, is 15-3 on the season while recording his seventh shutout of the season last week against Northern Oklahoma College.  Playing 270 minutes in goal this past week, Alexander turned away eight shots surrendering two goals with one coming via a penalty kick.  

“This is very much a deserved honor for Nick,” Barton Head Coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. “He has played in every single minute of every game and has kept us in a lot of games this season.”

Receiving the award previously for the Cougars were Vinicius Braga and Lippi Souza.  Braga, a sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, received the award in week one while Souza, a sophomore from Shawnee, Kansas, received his in week two.

The Cougars wrapped up its regular season Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Kansas City Kansas Community College.  Barton will host a first round Region VI playoff game on Tuesday, October 25, against an opponent to be named later as the last week of conference play is still in progress.  Having forfeited four victories earlier in the season which included one conference and two region games, Barton finished the regular season with an 11-7 overall record, 8-2 in conference, and 8-3 in region play.
