In a contrast of the prior day’s performance, the Barton Community College men's soccer team cranked up the offensive attack in a 7-1 conference victory over Allen Community College today at Cougar Field. The win improves the Barton’s record to 7-3 in conference play and 10-7 overall with only one game remaining.
Playing its final home regular season game at Cougar Field, the Cougars built a four goal lead in the first half by using its attacking offense. Ahmad Bah started the Cougar scoring by taking a Nestor Morales pass and blasting past the Allen goalkeeper with twenty seven minutes remaining. Barton would then get its next two goals within five minutes of each other on a Bah to Andre Souza combination at the 21:54 mark and Morales to Igor Barbosa with 16:41 remaining. As Barton substituted regularly throughout the game, it was the freshman duo of Carlos Salguero passing to Gonzalo Gelso with 7:30 on the clock to give Barton its 4-0 halftime advantage.
Morales added to his two previous assists by picking up a lone goal at thirteen minutes in the second half. Rounding out the scoring for Barton was Jonson Shaad and Gelso’s second goal of the game. Allen would get its only goal on a penalty kick by George Uttute at 16:38 remaining from a hand ball foul by Barton’s Diogo Quirino.
Barton travels to Kansas City on Saturday to wrap up its regular season by taking on Kansas City Kansas Community College at 1:00 p.m.
