Cougar Soccer rolls to 10-0 victory over Hesston

Fabio Priore beats the Hesston goalkeeper for the first of his four goals on the dayThe Barton Community College men's soccer team showed no signs of a letdown after Sunday’s victory over No. 7 Otero by dismantling Hesston College 10-0 today.  The Cougars move to 3-0 on the season and have outscored their opponents 18-0.  Barton will travel to Tyler, TX this weekend to play the No. 1 and No. 9 teams in the country.

“We kept to the game plan and competed with a solid overall performance,” Barton Head Coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. “It was a total team effort with everyone getting involved and contributing.”

Leading the Cougar goal scoring was Fabio Priore with 4 goals.  Barton had five other players score goals with nine assists by eight different players as they outshot Hesston 25-1.

“I thought Priore obviously had a good day along with Nestor Morales having a solid game,” Twelvetrees said.  “Overall each of the boys played solid and contributed to the win.  It should prepare us well for this weekend’s tough games in Texas.”

Nestor Morales manuering around two Hesston defenders in second half actionAlso scoring for the Cougars were Jonson Shaad, Diogo Quirino, Andre Souza, and Lippi  Souza whose 90’ free kick rounded out the first half scoring, netted two goals on the day. 

Notes:
Vinicius Braga was named the Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Tuesday.  The sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil scored the game winning goal Sunday against No. 7 Otero.  He also helped anchor a tough defense to two shutout victories over the week-end which included only 5 shots on goal.
