Cougar Soccer clinch first round home playoff game; defeat KCK 3-1

The Barton Community College men's soccer team secured a Region VI first round home playoff game by defeating Kansas City Kansas Community College today in Kansas City 3-1.  Finishing its regular season today with a 11-7 record, the Cougars will now play the waiting game to find out who they will play as the conference schedule still has a week remaining.  Barton finishes the conference at 8-2 and 8-3 in region play, having forfeited four victories earlier in the season which included one conference and two region games.

Sophomore David Majors scored his first goal of the season from a Nestor Morales assist to give the Cougars an early lead ten minutes into the contest.  The teams went scoreless for the next forty seven minutes until a KCK header tied the game.  The Cougars would get the game-winning goal with just thirteen minutes remaining on a Lippi Souza free-kick goal and a finale game clincher on a Jonson Shaad free kick with only a minute remaining.
