Cougars lose conference road tilts

The Barton Community College softball team lost 4 games in 2 days on the road in the Jayhawk West. Barton lost both ends of doubleheader at Seward Tuesday and did likewise at Garden City on Wednesday. The losses drop Barton to 1-5 in the West and 1-15 overall. Seward improved to 21-6 overall with the wins and 2-2 in the West. Garden City is now 21-8 and 2-0.

 

Highlights
Barton scored just one run during the day in Liberal as Seward won 15-0 and 18-1. Barton fell behind 8-0 in the opening inning of game one. Aleeya Ybarra and Amanda Lanigan each had hits for the Cougars in the loss. The Cougars fell behind 7-0 to start game 2 on the way to the loss. Barton scored a run in the 2nd when Abigail Olmedo singled in Anna Voss. Ybarra and Christine Macias also had hits for the Cougars.

 

Barton had a similar day the following afternoon at Garden City, losing 11-0 and 8-0. Barton did collect 5 hits in the opener but left all five runners stranded. Chelsea Bauer, Lanigan, Voss, Macias, and Kristin Schartz each had a hit for Barton with Bauer belting a double. Barton was held hitless in the finale.

 

The Cougars will get to play a home conference game Wednesday when Butler visits Cougars Fields.
