Highlights
The Cougars played from in front most of the opening game on its way to a 25-22 win. Barton control the 2nd game nearly from start to finish in a 25-17 win putting the Cougars just one more game from the match. But Seward battled back and played from in front during the 3rd contest on its way to the 25-20. Barton appeared to have the 4th game wrapped up leading 21-12 and 23-15 before a furious Saint rally tightened the game considerably before Barton held on for the 25-23 win to win the match.
Giselle de Moura led Barton with 10 kills in the win leading a balanced attack. Raney Okeson and Taylor Arnold each had 9 kills while Tonga Malia added 8. Juliana Barros assisted most of those kills with 32 and added a pair of service aces as well. Barros also led Barton with 24 digs followed closely by Morgan Cooper with 22.
The Cougars will take part in pool play Friday in Colorado Springs, playing Garden City, Air Force Prep and North Lake College. The 4 teams will then break into bracket play Saturday.
