Barton Community College volleyball player Paula da Silva has been named the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Player of the week. Da Silva, a freshman middle blocker from Uberlandia, Brazil, recorded 16 kills with zero errors in 19 attempts including eight kills in her first eight attempts. She has also helped lead the No. 12 ranked Lady Cougars to an 8-0 start on the season and 24 straight set victories.
Barton will travel to Twin Falls, Idaho, later this week to take on nationally ranked teams in the College of Southern Idaho Tournament. On Friday the Lady Cougars will play host and No. 9 ranked College of Southern Idaho at 2:00 p.m. followed by Yavapai College at 4:00 p.m. Saturday’s schedule doesn’t offer any relief as Barton will play No. 20 North Idaho College at 12:00 p.m., No. 4 ranked Miami-Dade College at 2:00 p.m., and then wrap up tournament play at 6:00 p.m. against No. 7 Salt Lake Community College. *All times Central Standard Time.
Barton’s next home match will be at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, against Colby Community College.
