Barton Community College Volleyball player Juliana de Barros led the Barton sweep of Hutchinson Monday night by recording a rare triple/double. De Barros had 25 assists, 15 digs, and 11 kills in the 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 Lady Cougar win. The victory pushed Barton to 4-0 conference record, 8-0 overall, and 24-0 in sets.
“Juliana was simply terrific tonight,” said Head Coach Patrick Hall. “She really came through on a night when our outside attack was struggling. Paula was a little off too, but that’s relative to her typically torrid pace. It was our worst passing night of the year, but our defense, blocking, and de Barros performance pulled us through.”
On the backs of de Barros and Jayhawk Conference player of the week Paula da Silva, who each had 11 kills, the team hit .265 for the evening. In the first set, the Cougars hit .303, but fell to .174 in the second. They finished the match with .333 in the third set, where de Barros went 6 for 7.
In addition to de Barros’ 15 digs, Giselle da Moura recorded 8, with Ashley Archer and Kamri Nehls each contributing 6. The team tallied 45 for the match.
