Lady Cougars use 10-0 early run in victory over Southwestern 67-48

Building a ten point lead in the first four minutes of the contest, the Barton Community College women’s basketball team went on to a comfortable 67-48 victory over Southwestern College Junior Varsity Tuesday night at the Barton Gym.   The Lady Cougars, who improve to 5-2 on the season, will play fellow Jayhawk Conference members Coffeyville Community College and Labette Community College this weekend in the Highland Hotel Booster Club Classic.  Barton will play Coffeyville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Labette at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Highlights
Despite playing only twelve minutes in the contest, Netanya Jackson led the Lady Cougars in scoring with 17 points.  The 6’4” sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was 6-of-11 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.  Joining Jackson in double digit scoring were Blair Bloomfield with 13 and Dionne Harris with 12.  Harris led Barton with nine rebounds while point guard Erin Copeland led the assists category with five.  All ten players who suited up played at least eleven minutes as the Lady Cougars had six players with two or more assists.

Leading Southwestern in scoring was Jordan Hobbs with eighteen points as no other Lady Moundbuilder scored more than 8 points.
