Fast start propels Lady Cougar Basketball to big victory over Tabor

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team got a much needed win tonight defeating Tabor College Junior Varsity 74-27.   After dropping its last two games this past weekend in Midland, Texas, the Lady Cougars used a 10-0 run to open the game and cruised to the forty-seven point win.  With the victory, Barton evens its season record at 2-2 heading into this week-end’s Hutchinson Classic.  The Lady Cougars will play Marshalltown on Friday and Neosho Community College on Saturday, with both games starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

Highlights
Forcing 18 turnovers first half turnovers which included ten steals, Barton built a 39-12 lead going into halftime.  In the second half Barton increased their lead by twenty points as all nine players who suited up played with five scoring in double figures. 

Leading the Lady Cougars in scoring was Blair Bloomfield with 15 points.  Joining Bloomfield in double digit scoring were Dionne Harris with 14, Devan Boeger and Taschell Phillips both scored 11, and Ta’Kerra Williams finished with 10 points.  Harris, who just missed her third double-double of the season, led Barton in rebounding with nine.  Boeger had a solid overall game scoring a career high on 4-of-6 shooting while dishing out three assists with zero turnovers. 

Leading Bethany in scoring was Hannah Paust with nine points as no other Lady Bluejay scored more than 6 points.
