Volleyball Camp Information

The Barton Community College volleyball program is offering volleyball camps during the month of July.  Open to middle school and high school aged participants, pre-enrollment is encouraged as camps fill quickly.   Cost is $75 per person as participants receive a camp t-shirt, individual instruction, and in-game situation instruction.  MORE

Hall takes over Barton volleyball program

Patrick Hall will be taking over the Barton Community College volleyball as the Cougars new head coach for the 2011 season. Hall was hired recently to replace Jaime Cabral. Hall comes to Barton from just down the road at another Jayhawk West school. Hall has been the head coach at Pratt for the past 5 seasons, where he earned 3 Jayhawk West Coach of the Year awards. Barton wraps up season at NJCAA National Tournament

The Barton Community College volleyball team wrapped up its volleyball season at the NJCAA National Tournament Thursday and Friday with losses in its two matches. The Cougars lost the opener to No. 2 seed Western Wyoming in 3 close games then battled to a 5-game match loss to Florida State-Jacksonville in the consolation bracket. The Cougars finish the year with a 26-10 record. Western Nebraska, the 4th seed, won the NJCAA Championship with a 5-game thriller over 3rd seeded San Jacinto. Western Wyoming took 3rd. Top seed and previously unbeaten Miami-Dade was defeated in the quarterfinals by Salt Lake and ended up 6th with another loss North Idaho in the 5th place game. MORE

Barton to tangle with 2nd seeded Western Wyoming to start NJCAA Tournament

The Barton Community College volleyball team will head to its 20th NJCAA National Tournament in school history this week when they travel to West Plains, Missouri for the 2010 version of the event. The Cougars will take with them the No. 15 seed in the 16-team event. That will pit Barton against Western Wyoming in the opening round, the tournament’s 2nd seed. The Cougars and Mustangs will serve things off Thursday at 11 am at the West Plains Civic Center. MORE

Cougars earn Region VI volleyball title; headed to NJCAA National Tournament

The Barton Community College volleyball team was the one celebrating when the Region VI tournament came to a close Sunday afternoon in Wichita on the campus of Newman University. The Cougars held off Seward County in a 2nd title match to earn the team’s 1st Region VI Championship in three years. Barton will now prepare for its spot in the upcoming NJCAA National Championships to be held Nov 18-20 in West Plains, Missouri. Barton (26-8) will be making its 20th appearance at the NJCAA tournament, winning a National Championship in 2003. MORE

Barton wins thriller over Colby; advances in Region VI action

The Barton Community College volleyball team captured an opening round win in the Region VI playoffs in thrilling fashion as Barton won 28-26 26-24 25-23 over Colby Tuesday night at the Barton Gym. The win moved Barton into the double elimination portion of the post season event to play the region’s top seed Pratt. Barton, the 4 seed, is now 23-7 on the season while Pratt is 17-15. The bottom of the bracket will pit 2 Dodge City (26-9) and 3 Seward (20-16). Colby ends its season at 26-15. MORE

Barton ends season tied for 3rd in West; will take 4th seed to post season

The Barton Community College volleyball team won easily at Garden City Wednesday night to end the regular season tied for 3rd in the Jayhawk West with Seward County. Barton rolled to a 25-8 25-11 25-13 win over the Broncbusters to end regular season play at 9-5 in the West and 22-7 overall. Garden City ends its year with a 2-28 mark and will not be playing in post season. Barton will host Colby Tuesday night at the Barton Gym to start the Region VI tournament. Colby finished 8-6 in the West and 26-14 overall. MORE

Cougars win big West game on road; close in on clinching home playoff game

The Barton Community College volleyball team picked up a big win Tuesday night in its quest to lock up a home court playoff game to start Region VI play the 1st week of November. The Cougars won at Colby, 25-22 25-21 25-22 giving Barton a sweep of the Trojans on the season and thus tiebreakers if needed. Barton could still finish as high as 2nd in the West. The Cougars are currently tied for 3rd with Seward at 7-4 in the conference. Barton is 20-6 overall. Colby falls to 7-5 in the West and 25-13. West leading Pratt will bring an 11-1 mark to the Barton Gym Thursday in the final regular season home game for the Cougars. Barton sophomores Morgan Cooper and Raney Okeson will be honored during the evening. First serve is set for 6:30 pm. MORE

Barton wins 9th straight; back in race for Jayhawk West title

The Barton Community College volleyball team matched its longest winning streak in a couple of years with a Jayhawk West win over Garden City Wednesday night at the Barton Gym. The Cougars made it 9 straight with a 25-5 25-12 25-18 win over the Broncbusters. The Cougars started last season off with 9 straight wins. Barton has won 3 straight West games in that streak and have put themselves back in the West race in the process after an 0-2 start. Barton is 3-2 in the West and 15-4 overall. Garden City fell to 0-7 and 2-17. Barton’s next two games could put them on top of the West as Cougars have road games at Dodge City Friday and Pratt Monday. Those are the only two teams with just 1 loss in the West. MORE

Cougars continue to roll along with 8th straight win

The Barton Community College volleyball team continued its longest winning streak of the season a Jayhawk West win over Colby Wednesday night at the Barton Gym in Great Bend. The Cougars won the match in 3 games, posting a 27-25 25-20 25-12 win over the Trojans for their 8th straight win on the year. Barton evened its mark at 2-2 in the West and is now 14-4 overall on the season. Colby fell to 3-2 in the West and 15-6 overall. Barton will be off for a week with the Cougars next action coming Wednesday when Garden visits the Barton Gym for another West match. MORE

Cougars run winning streak to 7; capture AFP Classic

The Barton Community College volleyball team rolled through the Air Force Prep Classic this past weekend then scooped up another non conference win Monday night in Sterling with a win over the Sterling JV. Those wins have pushed the Cougars’ winning streak to 7 games heading back into Jayhawk West play Wednesday night at home against Colby. The Cougars were a perfect 3-0 in pool play in Colorado Springs, beating West foe Garden City as well as Air Force Prep and North Lake. The 4 teams were then bracketed for single elimination action Saturday with Barton beating Air Force Prep and North Lake for the championship without dropping a single game in the 5 matches. Barton is now 13-4 on the season. MORE

Volleyball knocks off another ranked foe in West win over Seward

The Barton Community College volleyball team beat its 3rd ranked foe of the season with a 4-game win over Seward County Wednesday night at the Barton Gym. The Cougars won the Jayhawk West match over the No. 18 team in the NJCAA with a 25-22 25-17 20-25 25-23 win over the Saints. With the win Barton moved to 1-2 in the West and 7-4 overall on the season. Seward fell to 3-1 in the West and 9-3 overall. Barton will travel to Colorado Springs this weekend to take part in the Air Force Prep Invitational Friday and Saturday. MORE

Cougars go 3-1 in Texas with pair of wins over ranked teams; lose to Hutch

The Barton Community College volleyball team rebounded from a loss to start Jayhawk West play with a 3-1 record in Borger, Texas at the Frank Phillips Invitational. The Cougars lost to Panola (Texas) before finishing with wins over Pratt, Casper (Wyom), and Cloud County. The first three games were against ranked foes. The Cougars then lost their 2nd Jayhawk West game at Hutchinson. MORE

Barton receiving votes in preseason NJCAA Top 25 poll

The Barton Community College volleyball team will picked up some votes but didn’t get enough to crack the NJCAA preseason Top 25 poll released earlier this month. The Cougars are among just 3 teams to receive votes and not make the poll. Pratt was the highest rated team from Jayhawk Conference in the poll, coming in at No. 14 while Seward joined them in the Top 25 at No. 17.
